Cape May car show at the Gazebo at the Washington Street Mall

Today is a perfect weather day. It is a day to get out of the house, hotel or bed and breakfast and just stroll around town.

One of the mainstays of a stroll in Cape May is the Washington Street Mall. The mall is filled with shops, food, fudge shops and bars. The Washington Street Mall has been recently renovated and now offers ample seating and beautiful fountains.

Today the mall area had an additional attraction at the Cape May Gazebo grounds. There was a Micro-car show. If any of you were fans of Disney’s Herbie goes Bananas then this is close. The vehicle were not beetles but a wee bit smaller and very cute. It was an unexpected treat on a beautiful day in Cape May.

Cape May Zoo is a great attraction for fall visitors

In Cape May we have visitors in every season: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each season is unique and offer guest a variety of activities. At the Bacchus Inn Bed and Breakfast guest rave about the variety of options away from the beach. In fall the birds are migrating, the leaves are changing color, the wine grapes are being harvested, and the days are shortening and cooling. In the cool weather the beaches are less crowded and the visitors turn to alternatives to enjoy their time away. One great fall attraction for the young and the young at heart is the Cape May Zoo.

The Cape May Zoo is located just a few minutes from Cape May just off the Garden State Parkway a left at Crest Haven Road. Admission to the Cape May Zoo is free but a donation is requested at the entrance. The Zoo covers a large area and the larger animals have room to roam. There are lions, tigers, and bears of course. There are two new attractions as well. The baby Snow Leopards were born in the spring. They live in their mother’s enclosure and are very cute. The other attraction will be leaving this fall. It is a Cambodian crocodile. He is currently living in the alligators winter indoor enclosure. He will be sent home when the temperatures fall and the alligators are forced indoors. There is plenty to see at the Cape May Zoo from the small snowy white owl to large snow leopard with cubs. Visitors will get their exercise visiting all the enclosures. Scooters are available for elderly visitors that find the larger area too challenging.

The animals are not the only attraction. There is also a park surrounding the Cape May Zoo. The park offers grills, covered seating areas and open seating over an extensive area . Kids have a choice of parks that offer slides, swings, tubes, and learning boards.

As the weather cools to a pleasant strolling temperature the Cape May Zoo is a great outdoor day. One of our repeat guests at the Bacchus Inn bed and breakfast, Jim and Marge, make it a point to visit Cape May and the Zoo each fall. Maybe you should visit this fall too!

Historic Cold Springs Civil War Reenactment September 12,2010

The Revolutionary War reenactment went well last weekend. Some guest of the Bacchus Inn Bed and Breakfast visited Cold Springs and were impressed by the event.

This weekend Cold Springs village offer more entertainment. The Civil War reenactment takes place on Saturday September 12. The battle is set to commence at 2:00 pm. It is a go idea to get there a little early.

If you have time check it out. It is only minute outside of Cape May. It is an easy drive out of Cape May across the back bridge toward the Cape May ferry on Seashore Road. It is a straight drive down to Cold Springs village on the left off Seashore Road.

Historic Cold Springs Village just minutes from Cape May has some great activities planned for September

Historic Cold Springs Village is just minutes outside the city of Cape May. It is a wonderful asset to the community with activities throughout the year.

In September there is a Revolutionary War encampment on Labor Day Weekend. See Revolutionary period aficionados dressed in period costume. There is a period tent competition so you can see how soldier slept back then.

September 11-12 fast forward to the Civil War. See how soldiers of the Civil War period dressed and slept.

Here at The Bacchus Inn Bed & Breakfast we are fortunate to have guest who participate in the reenactments. They repeated talk about how much fun it is for the participants and spectators. It keeps him coming back to Cape May year after year.
