The Bacchus Inn Bed & Breakfast is proud to have accommodated and supported the 2013 Higher Education – K-12 Bridges Conference.

The Bacchus Inn staff have worked with members of P4CE for some time providing accommodations for their semi-annual board meetings and taking on the role of their liaison to Cape May. Planning quality events such as this require a knowledge of the destination and resources. The Bacchus Inn prides itself on understanding what Cape May has to offer as a beach resort and conference destination. Through a consistent dialogue, The Bacchus Inn staff in union with The Cape May Convention Center provided information and assistance to P4CE event planners to help develop a quality experience for the conference attendees.

The Bacchus Inn was honored to provide accommodations during the conference for keynote speakers, Hall Davidson of Discovery Education and Apple Computer’s Steve Zalot. The Bacchus Inn provided accommodations for the executive members of the P4CE board and sponsors of this conference; Wilkes University, 3rd Learning, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Research for Better Schools, and Discovery Education.

During the first evening of the conference, The Bacchus Inn hosted a networking event as per the P4CE staff request. Some food was provided by The Bacchus Inn, but the social engagement also showcased exceptional products from Cape May Winery and Seaside Cheese of West Cape May.

This 2013 Higher Education Bridges Conference in Cape May event was a success for the planners, attendees, and Cape May. A coordinated effort amongst P4CE staff, The Bacchus Inn, and the Cape May Convention Center were essential. The Bacchus Inn hopes that this conference will become a model for future events showcasing our beautiful seashore resort, historic inns, and the Cape May Convention Center.

As soon as you cross the bridge into Cape May you are surrounded by seasons greetings. The lamp posts are dressed in garland with images of snowflakes illuminating the street scape. The Washington Street Mall is decorated with care and visions of holiday greetings dancing in all the merchants’ heads. The Bacchus Inn and other bed and breakfasts are dressed for the season and welcoming guests to see our best Victorian Christmas.

Cape May MAC is coordinating the tours of the inns. They are also offering trolley tours and other Christmas attractions. The Physick Estate, Cape May’s museum house, is a winter wonderland. The trees surrounding the grounds are strung with lights and the house offers its own unique Victorian Christmas charm.

The scents of the season are everywhere; cinnamon, pine cones, and evergreen surround visitors with wisps of hot chocolate and hot apple cider throughout.

The air is filled with laughter and kids are all similes.

It is a great time to be in Cape May because the only thing missing from this holiday season is you.

Hurricane Sandy roared through Cape May County on Monday, Oct 29, driving a massive storm surge onto the barrier islands. Winds and rain started Sunday and continued through two high tides, coinciding with a full moon that night.

Thankfully for Cape May and other area shore-points, Sandy turned into a post-tropical cyclone before making landfall south of Atlantic City around 8 p.m.

By Tuesday morning, parts of the county looked like a war-zone, however, Cape May, the Wildwoods, Stone Harbor and Avalon fared better than expected. Avalon and Stone Harbor experienced an all time record high tide Monday night, but the water had receded by Tuesday afternoon and damage seemed minimal.

Many believe that the combination of the storm hitting 20 to 25 miles north of Cape May and some two hours before high tide, saved this area from immense flooding.

The Cove Beach in Cape May, NJ – Post-Sandy

The inaugural “Exit 0 International Jazz Festival” in Cape May is to be held Nov. 9 to 11, 2012.

The previously held semiannual “Cape May Jazz Festival” put on by a local organization, ended a 17-year run in 2011. Debt and lack of cohesiveness within the organization is said to be the catalyst for the organization’s decision to dissolve.

The organizer of the Exit 0 International Jazz Festival wants to bring more of a New Orleans vibe to this festival. 52 year-old Michale Kline says it is because nobody knows how to have fun like people in New Orleans.

Main-stage shows will take place at the Convention Hall, which will be reconfigured as a 550-seat bistro. In all, more than 20 bands and artists will perform at 8 locations throughout Cape May.

Mr. Kline plans to continue the jazz tradition in Cape May, by presenting another jazz festival in June.

The jazz festival is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and listen to great music in the historic beach front community of Cape May NJ. There is something special about listening to great music on a lazy afternoon watching the waves crash on the sea. Everyone can listen to great jazz but everyone should experience it down the shore in historic Cape May at least once.
