SUMMER SOLSTICE

The Summer Solstice is here!  For Pagans, the Summer Solstice was thought to be a time of magic and evil spirits were said to appear at this time. Pagans often wore protective garlands made of herbs and flowers to keep the evil spirits away. Some Pagan rituals included bonfires to boost the sun’s energy and help to guarantee a plentiful harvest.

Today, most people celebrate summer with trips to the shore, BBQ’s, and other outside activities.  We tend not to mark the start of summer as ceremoniously as the Pagans as our busy lives keep us more connected to our computers than to the natural wonders that happen around us.  However, signs of summer are here; warmer weather, lust green leaves, lightning bugs, visiting the beautiful beaches in Cape May, NJ!  Summer is here, so don’t forget to make time to see us at The Bacchus Inn B&B.
