In addition to the walking tour of the Cape May Christmas lights and dazzling Victorian homes, visitors can enjoy Cape May Christmas light trolley tours as the trolley rides visitors through Downtown Historic Cape May New Jersey. The regular trolley ride is always a fun time, but the special Ghosts of Christmas Past Cape May Christmas trolley rides are especially thrilling. In addition to the festive Cape May Christmas tours and trolley tours, the city annually hosts the Cape May Christmas Parade and holds a Cape May Christmas Craft Show where hundreds of crafters bring their holiday wares to sell. These events are always fun Cape May Christmas events for the whole family. Also, the city has another delightful holiday tradition; every year in early December, Cape May’s Scandinavian community hosts their annual Swedish Festival in the nearby town of Wildwood. Hosted at the grounds and fellowship hall of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, the Cape May Christmas Swedish Festival brings with it plenty of delicious traditional Swedish foods including Swedish pancakes, Scandinavian cheese, and crafters display their local arts and crafts during the event. Also, the Lucia Pageant is held during this time. The Swedish Lucia celebration is an annual festival in Swedish culture that is held on the 13th of December. On this day, according to their traditions, Saint Lucia brightens the darkness in the world and ushers in a new period of light and goodness and thus the Christmas celebration begins. In Swedish culture, Saint Lucia, or someone playing the part of Lucia, wears a wreath of lingonberry sprigs and candles atop her head to give the effect of a halo. Modern day Lucia’s opt for battery operated versions.
